Every morning I do my devotion and read a couple of chapters of the bible. Right now, I’m exploring in the New Testament. Today I read Romans 12 and I could just feel God talking to me about my life. “Do I die to myself everyday? Can strangers tell that I am a child of God? Your books, church attendance, bible studies although they mean well. Are you truly living for me day to day?”.
You shouldn’t have to say that you are a Christian in order for people to believe. You should be living like it. Our everyday life is a witness to unbelievers. I start to think about when I was in the world and believers would be doing the same thing as me (smoking weed, partying & drinking heavily). As a sinner, when they did try to talk to me about God I wouldn’t listen. It could be them giving me inspiration and encouragement in the Word. It just wouldn’t click, but when God shows you a true Christian… wow! You are amazed and you can feel his presence all over them. You start to want to know about the God they always talk about.
WHY it is important for us to live for Christ?
It’s important because it gives unbelievers hope in a God that they may not know. It shows people that living for Christ isn’t boring. Some people think that people who live for Christ life is basically over. They can wait until they are older, married with kids to find it importance to live for Christ. I testify that I really start living when I start living for Christ. When you allow God to direct your paths and order your steps you will start being blessed just by his relationship. When you lose things/people, it’s not really a lost because you have God and you know his will and way is perfect. So whatever happens your hope and peace cannot be taken away because it’s in God.
It’s so easy to talk about the grace, love and the mercy God shows us when everything is going to good. In the valley is when our faith is truly being tested. It’s time to put all those things God said and believe. Lately, it’s been a struggle for me. It’s like I have an open wound on the battlefield and it’s taken everything in me to crawl to receive help. The easy part would be to close my eyes and let death consume me.But this hope, my God. When I pray, open my bible and worship God my strength is renewed. I always post when things are going amazing, it’s like everything just flows. But lately things have been hard and God has been revealing to me that I’m not perfect. And it’s okay to let your imperfections show because you serve a perfect God.
The bad part about the valley is that it’s hard, dark and a cold place. But the wonderful thing about the valley is that God will bring you through it. Right now, in my own situation it seems impossible, I have no idea how everything is going to turn out. But God does and that’s when you feed yourself the scriptures and get into the Word because that is your strength is keep moving forward. That’s where your hope lays. Everything could be going to hell but God is still going to be there for you. He is still ordering your steps and he still made a perfect plan for you according to his will. In the valley, is where my faith grows and my relationship with God grows. In the valley, is when my hope shines like a star, my love for God increases. In the valley is when my trust in God is truly put to test, but that’s all I have is to trust in the Lord. In my own strength nothing can truly happen, but in God’s strength everything can. God is the creator of the earth and everything in it. He is the creator of the heavens and everything in it. So you of little faith? Don’t believe that God can truly deliver you out of your valley like he did the Israelite’s SO many times. He loved them so much that he saved them so many times, even when they got themselves in trouble. God sees you in the wilderness and he is going to bring you out. God controls everything in this world, he is controlling your situation. Anything is possible with God. So include him in all your problems, nothing is too small for God.
In the valley, in the wilderness.
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior
While studying my bible I always like to listen to the Bible Study playlist on Apple Music. The Hillsong United “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) came on and I still cannot get pass it…. It’s through the things you cannot control is when your faith is tested the most. Life has been going unexpected lately, some good and some bad. While trials may hit and you may not see yourself coming out of situations because let’s be honest it’s bad. In Judges 6, when the angel of the Lord came to Gideon and told him “The Lord is with you, you mighty warrior”. Gideon knew of the things God has done for the Israelite’s, but thought God left them to suffer. Your story doesn’t end in defeat but in victory with the Lord. God doesn’t intend for you to stay in your suffering, He is calling you out.
My past and my present doesn’t dictate God’s purpose for me. It took me now to realize that. The story of how David was anointed to be King. The process of how it started brings me relief. David was a Shepard boy. In the eyes of many he didn’t look like a warrior. In the eyes of many, I don’t look like a church clerk, a christian or any other label. By me staying in the will of God I can do anything. You can do anything. You just have to be willing to trust God and obey him. God will pave the way for those he called to do his work for his glory and his Kingdom. So the next time you question a blessing/ calling God has put on your life. Remember…
“But the Lord said to Samuel, ” Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” 1 Samuel 16:7
God sees who you are with him.
I am deathly afraid of bees (honey bees, bumblebees, sweat bees etc). But I enjoy studying outside in my mother’s garden. While going over my Sunday School lesson. I could sense a presence, I wasn’t alone. I was reading in my bible about Nicodemus not being able to comprehend having a new birth. Not a natural birth, but a spiritual.
“Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, ” Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.” Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!” Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again'”. John 3:1-7
Jesus was trying to explain by saying ‘flesh produces flesh’ and well ‘spirit produces spirit’. This is a natural new birth. Mind you I never read this story in the bible, so learning this in the Spirit is a great experience. Jesus goes on to talk about the “wind”. How the spirit is like the wind, you cannot see and don’t know the origin nor destination. But you know there is a “wind” because you can feel it and experience it.
“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but cannot tell where is comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” John 3:8
Then God told me “Amber, move”. So I got my notepad and pen the moved. So confused as to why God will tell me to move. Then 2 bumblebees went over to my empty seat and table of books. My worse fear were right there. So I went into the house for a sip of Coca Cola. Then I came back outside when God told me it was “okay” to go back and finish my studies. But my fear paralyzed me, I wanted to quit my studies because I was afraid of being stung twice. The pain came into my mind. Then God told me “My child you trust me to get you out of danger, but don’t trust me to protect you. Fear is not mine. Now continue to study”. While walking back to my seat, knowing God is right.. The 2 bumblebees went and flew over the neighbor’s house.
I was relieved, to know God was protecting me as long as I align myself with the Spirit. I can feel his presence and his peace now.
God met me in my mother’s garden today.
It’s important to be obedient to God. Letting Him have full control over your life. Walking in the Spirit instead of your sinful nature.
“19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:19-21)
Once you become a (born-again) Christian the Holy Spirit dwells inside of you, while it will start a war “Flesh vs Spirit”. To overcome that battle, to win is to surrender “ALL” to the Holy Spirit. Be one with the Holy Spirit, whenever God says move, MOVE! When he says be still, be still. Every step, every path you take make sure it align up with God.
“22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” (Galatians 5:22-24)
As Christians we may backslide but repent and sin no more. It’s time to show and tell God “I’m All In”.
“25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.” (Galatians 5:25-56)
